Pick Me Up Q&A Series: Martina Martian

20 year old Sydney based illustrator Martina Martian (real surname Calvi in case you were wondering) taught herself to embroider from Youtube videos. She’s applied her self professed ‘Saved By The Bell’ inspired style to everything from street art to enamel pins. We’re pretty excited to bring some of her work to this side of the world and her all-over t-shirts and vest dresses are available for pre order now. Here’s a little more about her.

You may remember our post two weeks ago announcing our collaboration with street artist Malarko to create the second in a series of quarterly limited edition t-shirt packs. The 3rd Rail x Malarko boxes will go on pre-sale on 03/12/15 with general sale set to launch on Monday 14th December. To celebrate we’re giving 15 of the 75 available packs away in a contest.

3rd Rail x Malarko

We’re super excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with street artist Malarko for the second in a series of print collaborations. Conceived to showcase the most innovative in-house screen and garment printing techniques we want the limited edition t-shirt boxes to deliver unique and beautifully made art products released on a quarterly basis. This ongoing project will encourage participating artists to reimagine the humble t-shirt and screen print for a final interpretation that’s sure to be completely original every time. Initially gaining notoriety by adorning shop shutters with his vividly colourful and jazzy characters Malarko’s body of work now encompasses a whole range of media and has been commissioned by the likes of Adidas and the V&A to name a few so we’re pretty chuffed to have him on board.
