London born pop culture artist and graphic designer Thumbs creates cartoon parody art. His designs crossover cartoons, movies and pop culture references, and with a background in skateboarding and a love for comic books, skate art and 90’s cartoons it’s hardly surprising. We caught up with him for a chat to understand his ideas, inspiration and plans for the future.
After being successfully funded through Kickstarter 3rd Rail Print Space has opened its doors for the first time on 25th January 2018. London’s biggest open access screen printing studio is now available to members and running screen printing workshops. Having successfully raised over £11,000 on Kickstarter we’re excited to announce that 3rd Rail Print Space, London’s biggest open access screen printing studio is finally launching on Thursday 25th January. We’ve been working around the clock in to turn the unused carpark space into a comprehensive screen printing studio. We have prepared a wide range of exciting events for the opening night to give new members and visitors a taste of what’s to come.
Multi-talented Daisy Emerson is an illustrator, sign writer, hand-letterer and type enthusiast from London. An established hand-letterer has worked with some of the world’s leading companies and brands including Facebook, Google and Adidas. We had a chat with Daisy about the design she created for our Kickstarter campaign and her love of pastel colours.
Peckham Levels is now open! Thanks to everyone who made it down to the launch party on Friday and stopped by our screen printing station, we hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did! The venue was bursting with amazing food and drink from independent traders, pop up events, exhibitions and talks. We have asked some of our favourite artists to create t-shirts exclusively for the 3rd Rail Print Space Kickstarter. One of contributing illustrators is Sam Taylor who has worked with global brands including The New Yorker, Google and Nike. We caught up with him briefly to get a better idea of his design process, inspiration and career plans.
Our Kickstarter has launched! After raising enough for rent and bills we experienced a shortfall in trying to cover refurbishment costs. With the launch fast approaching we’ve decided run a Kickstarter to raise the additional £10,000 needed to make this print dream a reality.
It’s been a while since we’ve had the pleasure working on an exciting collaboration so we’re really happy to announce our new partnership with social arts project Hopeful Traders. The organisation works really hard to remove the stigma around mental health and homelessness through working with artists affected by these issues on a clothing range. We had a chat with Charlie Wright who founded the initiative about how the project started, his commitment to producing ethical products and his upcoming Kickstarter campaign.
