The collapse of Rana Plaza – the 8 storey garment garment factory in Bangladesh which killed 1,134 and injured hundreds two years ago contributed to a shift in attitude towards and awareness of ethical clothing production practices. Pick Me Up Q&A Series: Drew Millward

Drew has been an illustrator for over 10 years and describes his work as being inspired by the ‘post industrial landscape of the north’. He started out by creating gig posters for the bands signed to his label Birdwalk and has gone on to work for clients ranging from Nike to the Arctic Monkeys. His 4 colour screen print ‘Landscape’ is available from our web store now in a very limited edition of 25, you can grab it HERE.

Pick Me Up Q&A Series: Alec Doherty

Alec’s work is predominantly typographic and character based in style. He’s probably best known for designing the beer labels for Partizan Brewing but he’s also created work for Red Bull Academy, the New York Times and Wired Magazine. ‘Snoggers’ the 6 colour screen print he developed with us for Pick Me Up is based on a wooden sculpture of the same name and we decided to catch up with him to find out a little more about his style and process.

3rd Rail at Pick Me Up in Pictures

Pick Me up closed its doors last week after welcoming over 17,000 visitors. We loved meeting everyone who stopped by our space and for all those who didn’t manage to catch the show here are a couple of photos taken over the course of the exhibition.

Pick Me Up Q&A Series: DXTR

One tenth of street art collective The Weird DXTR was given his nickname by friends who would describe his kitchen, often littered with paint kettles and and spray cans as Dexter’s Laboratory. His work is most often described as ‘Pop Surrealism’ and he’s painted walls all over Europe as well as creating work for clients ranging from Amnesty International to Nike.
